Character Home Renovations
Amerex have 30 years of experience and expertise in beautiful Character Homes Renovations
Character Home Renovations is the key renovation niche that established Amerex as your go-to experts and leading renovation company in Perth, all those years ago when the business began. Since 1987, Amerex have firmly established ourselves as Perth’s leading Builders and Renovation company specialising in Perth Character Home Renovations and Extensions. We have worked with Californian Bungalows, Federation era heritage homes and homes from eras ranging from the early 1900’s thru to 1950. We have also worked with homes from later eras such as 1950’s, 1960’s and beyond.
When it comes to Character Home Renovations, the most common request from Owners, is to knock off the old sleep-out or existing rear of the home. This is then replaced with a new and modern extension comprised of an Open Plan Living area with new Dining area and a new Kitchen. The existing parts of the home are often renovated at the same time. This includes the mandatory upgrade of your electrical system to meet today’s safety standards.
Along with the house extension at the rear of the home, many clients also opt to add a Second Story Addition at the same time. This is the ultimate renovation where you gain Open Plan Living from the downstairs, and upstairs you gain additional bedrooms and a great deal of extra space in the Second Story Addition e.g. Master bedroom, ensuite, children’s rooms and perhaps an activity/study area.
We are experts at blending the old and the new part of the character home extension. There is a great deal of attention to detail involved in doing this. Amerex have won many awards for our high quality craftsmanship and expertise in renovating character homes built in the decades spanning 1900 to 1940 such as Californian Bungalows, Federation homes and older homes with classic heritage features.
We discuss with you what character and heritage features you would like in the new areas, so that there is continuity of the heritage style, while also making sure it looks modern and fresh. Typically, jarrah floorboards are continued into the new extension, high ceilings and heritage style skirting boards.
Kitchens have all the mod-cons including stone bench-tops and modern appliances. Some clients go for a completely modern look in their kitchen. Other clients incorporate elements that give a subtle nod to the bygone era of the home, such as subway tiles as the splash-back in the kitchen. Whatever approach you decide to take, we have experienced professionals at hand to guide your selections to ensure that your home renovation will look sensational.
Increasingly we are finding that Home Owners are looking to add a completely modern home extension that is in complete contrast to the existing part of the home. Amerex are absolutely on board with this approach, and have undertaken several recent modern home extensions projects taking this approach with stunning results.
Sometimes it can be the simple use of modern materials or products that can provide the extended home with an unique edge. For example, Amerex recently completed a character home renovation in Jolimont where the Owners opted for polished concrete instead of floorboards in the extended part of the home (pics coming soon!). At another home in Inglewood, the Owners used Exposed Aggregate concrete in their outdoor areas instead of timber decking with stunning results.
Amerex love the opportunity to work with new materials and innovative products, and embrace the opportunity to do so.
Whatever style you decide for the extension and renovation to Character Home, you can be assured that the Amerex commitment to QUALITY and CARE will shine thru in your end result.
