BREATHING NEW LIFE INTO EVERY CORNER OF THE HOME
This Top-to-Toe Renovation transformed an ageing 1980s home into a bright, contemporary space designed for modern family living.
The original floorplan and flow felt disconnected, particularly through the entry and main living areas. Our design team reimagined the floorplan, introducing a series of structural changes that improved flow, functionality and the overall living experience.
A key part of the transformation involved removing a wall that separated the lounge and informal dining areas, creating a more open and connected living zone. New skylights positioned above the kitchen and living spaces now bring an abundance of natural light into the heart of the home.
The kitchen was completely redesigned and rebuilt as the centrepiece of the renovation. During the design process, the owners revealed that their formal dining room was rarely used. Rather than preserve an underutilised space, we repurposed it into a generous walk-in pantry positioned behind the kitchen, delivering valuable additional storage and improving day-to-day functionality.
To achieve the new open-plan layout, we consulted a structural engineer and our construction planning ensured we maintained the structural integrity of the home in order to remove internal walls.
Internally, dark slate flooring was replaced with contemporary floor tiling, bathrooms were renovated and a fresh new colour palette helped create a lighter, more welcoming feel throughout the home.
Outside, the transformation continued. The original cream face brick façade was rendered and painted, dramatically updating the home’s appearance and boosting its street appeal. The change at street level was so significant that visiting friends reportedly drove straight past, no longer recognising the house.
Today, the home feels brighter, more connected and far better suited to the way the owners live, creating a fresh new chapter for a much-loved family home.
