We’re kicking off demolition on a new project. Before we begin we always do a thorough check for asbestos which if disturbed can release fibres that if breathed in, can cause the deadly disease Asbestosis iin the future. Many older homes have lino over the top of old floorboards. In this case there is two layers of lino. Not many people realise that lino often has an asbestos backing, so when it is ripped up to replace the asebstos fibres can get disturbed creating an unsafe environment. In this case, we got both layers of Lino professionally tested and confirmed our site was clear. Had absestos been found, we would shutdown the site and engage licenced professionals to remove the abestos and to declare the site safe before any trades would be allowed to return to site. If you are doing DIY work on your home, please ensure you look out for this. Stay safe and informed.
