AWARD WINNING HOME EXTENSION IN KENSINGTON
"EVERYONE WAS POLITE, PUNCTUAL AND RESPECTFUL OF THE NEIGHBOURS. MEMBERS OF THE AMEREX TEAM WERE OUTSTANDING FROM THE OUTSET. THEY ALL WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT WAS EXPECTED. POST COMPLETION CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS ALSO BEEN EXEMPLARY". - KAREN
CREATING ACCESSIBLE LIVING WHILE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF GREAT VIEWS
The original circa 1940’s home in Kensington was pokey and dark, and in some parts, it was quite dilapidated. It has been transformed into a modern and spacious home designed to perfectly meet the unique requirements of the elderly owners.
DESIGNING AND BUILDING FOR ACCESSIBILITY
The home extension at the rear was designed and built to facilitate easy wheelchair access directly from the garage to the new section of the home. The extension includes a large open-plan living area, a master bedroom with a wet-room ensuite that allows a wheelchair to move around freely.
CONSTRUCTION OF LARGE DECK WITH VIEW TO THE CITY AND OPTUS STADIUM
Added to the open plan living area is a huge undercover elevated jarrah deck with expansive inland views across the leafy suburbs to the city of Perth and over to Optus Stadium. The extension and deck were designed to ensure there was nothing in the way – such as supporting posts – that could spoil the magnificent view.
ENGINEERING TO DELIVER UNINTERRUPTED VIEWS
To achieve this was an engineering feat that required large steel sections and a portal frame to create the open, wide-span alfresco gable which allows for the magnificent uninterrupted views. Building the deck without supporting posts for the roof was Steve’s idea and acting as the go-between the Designer and the Engineer, he was able to deliver on the vision by lifting the large steel beam with a crane, along with a team of workers on hand, during construction of the deck to provide the owner’s with the fantastic unobstructed view they now enjoy every day.
WORDS FROM THE OWNERS
“Amerex recently completed a renovation/extension for my parents and the experience was positive from start to finish. We initially discussed the brief with a number of builders and decided to sign up with Amerex as we felt we could trust Steve and his team. It was absolutely the right decision. Steve insisted on good ‘old fashioned’ service, honesty, integrity, quality products and exceptional craftsmanship from all involved including Amerex team members, designers, tradespeople and suppliers. Everyone was polite, punctual and respectful of the neighbours. As the build progressed, Amerex’s reputation became evident. Suppliers, tradies and designers all spoke highly of Steve and commented on the exceptional quality of his renovations and extensions. This was reassuring. Members of the Amerex team were outstanding from the outset. They all went above and beyond what was expected to address any concerns we had, to initiate changes when required and to ensure that the build was on time and on budget. Post completion customer service has also been exemplary. Nothing was ever too much trouble and ongoing coordination and responses continued to be prompt and friendly. Mum and Dad love their ‘new’ home and couldn’t be happier with the end result. The old and new sections of the house blend seamlessly and they are continually receiving comments from neighbours, family and friends about how beautiful the house has become. We can recommend Amerex without hesitation.”
